Both ranges use pure Merino wool sourced from Kangaroo Island, South Australia. The key difference is grading: the 1836 selects its wool by micron count for the softest, most refined sleep surface possible. The Estate uses the same Kangaroo Island provenance without micron grading. The Estate casing is a 400 thread-count cotton sateen; the 1836 uses an exclusive 350 thread-count TENCEL™ sateen.

All Estate Merino wool is sourced exclusively from Kangaroo Island, South Australia — the same island provenance as our 1836 range. Kangaroo Island's clean air, pristine pastures and natural isolation produce Merino fleece of exceptional purity and softness.
Is the Estate Merino good for allergies? +
Yes, the Estate Merino is filled with pure Merino wool that is 100% chemical free and naturally non-allergenic. It is kind to sensitive skin and well suited to those with allergies or asthma.
How warm is each Estate Merino weight? +
The Estate comes in four weights. The 200gsm Summer is the lightest, for warm sleepers and hot nights. The 300gsm All Year suits most of the year in temperate homes. The 400gsm Winter uses two-layer construction for deep even warmth. The 500gsm Winter Plus is the warmest, for those who feel the cold most deeply. What is the difference between a quilt, a doona and a duvet? +
A quilt, a doona and a duvet are the same thing — a fibre-filled bed covering. Doona is the common Australian term, duvet is used in Europe and the UK, and comforter in North America.
