澳洲羊驼毛的优秀品质
澳洲大约在30年前开始商业繁殖羊驼。
如今澳洲约有175,000只注册羊驼，这使得羊驼成为除南美以外最大的羊驼养殖地。
得益于澳洲多年的绵羊养殖经验，羊驼在澳洲的繁殖得到了极大的发展，并且可以产出顶级品质的羊驼毛以供时尚和家居类需求。
羊驼每年剪毛一次，北方大约从每年9月开始，而南方从11月开始。平均一直羊驼克产3-4公斤原毛。剪下的原毛非常干净，不含羊脂。之后，被分级为不同等级，然后用有机清洗剂清除掉杂质和植物性残留。
尽管一只羊驼可以产出数量可观的原毛，但跟相对较小的羊驼数量相比，羊驼毛的总量还是非常少，每年只有大约150吨左右，这对于商业纺织来说，产量实在太低。
受限于羊驼毛数量，能够生产和制造出来的羊驼毛床上用品数量也是极为有限的。
澳洲羊驼毛的数量如此稀少，大约也只有全球产量的1%。而全球羊驼毛的产品也只有羊毛产量的万分之一，羊驼毛的需求量基本长期超过其产量。
